Youth Action Projects

Central to the mission of the Global Education Association is the empowerment of youth by fostering skills, confidence and leadership. Towards this end we have fostered several youth action projects in local schools.

Our educators lead curriculum based and extra-curricular activities over a single class or several months, integrating with the core Global Education themes and pedagogy, as well as with provincial learning outcomes.

Currently our largest ongoing Youth Action Project is C.A.R.E. which we run in partnership with Class Afloat. For C.A.R.E. the Global Education Association provides a customized framework which empowers students to create and actually undertake an international cultural experience with youth in another country. Drop was started as a partnership between two high schools in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia to ban the sale and distribution of plastic water bottles in municipal buildings for World Water Day 2009. The Global Education Association is providing background resources on water issues for students to use, logistical and practical support for their campaign and is providing a framework in which the students can succeed in bringing positive change to their town. More information coming soon.

Drop was recently in the local newspapers, twice!
