Understanding issues is key to moving youth from apathetic to empowered. One of the resources the Global Education Association (GEA) uses to build awareness of local and global issues is the amazing documentary film library available through Cinema Politica. By coupling film with guest speakers and developing backgrounder resources on the issues being faced, GEA provides a space to learn about, discuss and formulate action on a variety of current issues.

As with all of our programs, we have partnered with local and youth organizations, challenging and engaging them to take lead roles in the research, planning and promotion of events throughout the year. We have also recently partnered with Cinema Politica and are searching for additional funding to build easy to use resources for select documentaries which are available to all screeners to facilitate discussion and deeper understanding of the issues.

We have some information already available, and are happy to work with organizations, schools or community groups to provide additional support for their Social Justice awareness building efforts, especially those focused on youth. Please contact us for more information.
